Do You Know Them All?
There are eight Texas lotteries according to the Texas Lottery site. Read about them here from least to greatest cash value!
Pick 3 Plus Fireball
Do not let the simple name fool you. This Pick 3 (plus fireball) lottery is more complex than the name suggests.
Here’s how to play:
- 1. Choose 3 numbers from 0-9 or have them randomly selected with a quick pick
- 2. Decide which of the four ways you want to play
- 3. Draws are 4x per day, 6 days per week
- 3. Your win depends on your play choices
- 4. You can play the same numbers up to 24 consecutive times for draws that occur at one time or every time of day
But what about the fireball?
That is another option you can select when you choose the main Pick 3 options. The Texas Lottery draws a fireball number from 0-9 after the Pick 3 drawing. If you pay more, you have a chance to add fireball wins to your main Pick 3 wins. You win the fireball if replacing any of your Pick 3 numbers would create a winning combination. For instance, let’s say the winning fireball combination is 3-2-1, the fireball number is 3, and you played 5-2-1 on your main Pick 3 draw. This means you have a winning combination because the fireball 3 replaces the five.
Daily 4 Plus Fireball
Daily 4 is another lesser-known lottery option in Texas. Though similar to Pick 3, there are some important differences.
Here’s how to play:
- 1. Choose 4 numbers from 0-9 or have them randomly selected with a quick pick
- 2. Decide which of the five ways you want to play
- 3. Draws are 4x per day, 6 days per week
- 4. Your win depends on your play choices
- 5. You can play the same numbers up to 24 consecutive times for draws that occur at one time or every time of day
And the fireball?
Daily 4 also has this option when you do the main play. The Texas Lottery draws a fireball number from 0-9 after the Daily 4 drawing. If you pay more, you have a chance to add fireball wins to the main draw’s wins. You win the fireball if replacing any of your numbers would create a winning combination. For instance, let’s say the winning fireball combination is 3-2-1-4, the fireball number is 3, and you played 5-2-1-4 on your main draw. This means you have a winning combination now because the fireball 3 replaces the five.
Cash Five
The rules for Cash Five are as follows:
- 1. Choose 5 numbers from 1-35 or have them randomly selected with a quick pick
- 2. You have the option to play the same numbers up to 12 consecutive times for draws that occur each day
- 3. Draws are once 6 days per week
- 4. You can win various amounts by matching between 2-5 numbers in any order, and if you match 5 numbers you win the $25,000 top prize
Texas Two-Step
The Texas Two-Step is touted as “making the most jackpot winners in Texas each year.”
Here’s how to play:
- 1. Select 4 numbers from 1-35 or have them randomly selected with a quick pick

- 3. Drawings are 2 days per week at night
- 4. You have the option of a multi-draw which enables you to play the same numbers up to 10 drawings
- 5. You can win by matching 1-5 numbers. So if the bonus ball matches, then you win $5. If all five numbers match, then you win the jackpot which is always at least $200,000
